Passport Application under Tatkal Scheme
The Tatkal Scheme is a fast-track passport issuance system designed for citizens who require their passports urgently. By skipping the pre-issuance police verification stage, passports are dispatched in just a few days.
Eligibility Criteria
Most general citizens are eligible for Tatkal processing. However, due to security rules, certain categories are ineligible:
Eligible Applicants
- General Indian citizens applying for fresh passports or renewals.
- Minors whose parents hold valid passports with matching details.
Ineligible Categories
- •Deported persons or citizens with pending criminal proceedings.
- •Minor children with single parents or separated parents without legal consent.
- •Citizens seeking major demographic changes (e.g. signature or full name change).
Required Document Rules
For Tatkal passports, you must provide **at least 3 documents** from the official list of 12 standard proofs. At least one must be a photo ID and one must contain your current address.
Aadhaar Card / e-Aadhaar
Must contain your full birth date. Digital signature must be validated.
Voter Photo Identity Card (EPIC)
Must display your current address matching your application form.
PAN Card
Sourced from the Income Tax department, serving as primary signature/photo proof.
Annexure E Declaration
Self-declaration of citizenship, family details, and lack of criminal records (no notary stamp required).
